Episode Fortytwo

Revelation 20:1-2 And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. (2) And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

Psalms 21:1-13  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The king shall joy in thy strength, O LORD; and in thy salvation how greatly shall he rejoice!  (2)  Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.  (3)  For thou preventest him with the blessings of goodness: thou settest a crown of pure gold on his head.  (4)  He asked life of thee, and thou gavest it him, even length of days for ever and ever.  (5)  His glory is great in thy salvation: honour and majesty hast thou laid upon him.  (6)  For thou hast made him most blessed for ever: thou hast made him exceeding glad with thy countenance.  (7)  For the king trusteth in the LORD, and through the mercy of the most High he shall not be moved.  (8)  Thine hand shall find out all thine enemies: thy right hand shall find out those that hate thee.  (9)  Thou shalt make them as a fiery oven in the time of thine anger: the LORD shall swallow them up in his wrath, and the fire shall devour them.  (10)  Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.  (11)  For they intended evil against thee: they imagined a mischievous device, which they are not able to perform.  (12)  Therefore shalt thou make them turn their back, when thou shalt make ready thine arrows upon thy strings against the face of them.  (13)  Be thou exalted, LORD, in thine own strength: so will we sing and praise thy power.

Proverbs 21:1-31  The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.  (2)  Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.  (3)  To do justice and judgment is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.  (4)  An high look, and a proud heart, and the plowing of the wicked, is sin.  (5)  The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want.  (6)  The getting of treasures by a lying tongue is a vanity tossed to and fro of them that seek death.  (7)  The robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.  (8)  The way of man is froward and strange: but as for the pure, his work is right.  (9)  It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.  (10)  The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.  (11)  When the scorner is punished, the simple is made wise: and when the wise is instructed, he receiveth knowledge.  (12)  The righteous man wisely considereth the house of the wicked: but G-d overthroweth the wicked for their wickedness.  (13)  Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.  (14)  A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.  (15)  It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.  (16)  The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.  (17)  He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.  (18)  The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.  (19)  It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and an angry woman.  (20)  There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.  (21)  He that followeth after righteousness and mercy findeth life, righteousness, and honour.  (22)  A wise man scaleth the city of the mighty, and casteth down the strength of the confidence thereof.  (23)  Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles.  (24)  Proud and haughty scorner is his name, who dealeth in proud wrath.  (25)  The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour.  (26)  He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not.  (27)  The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?  (28)  A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly.  (29)  A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way.  (30)  There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.  (31)  The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

Psalms 42:1-11  To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O G-d.  (2)  My soul thirsteth for G-d, for the living G-d: when shall I come and appear before G-d?  (3)  My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy G-d?  (4)  When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of G-d, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.  (5)  Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in G-d: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.  (6)  O my G-d, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.  (7)  Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.  (8)  Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the G-d of my life.  (9)  I will say unto G-d my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?  (10)  As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where is thy G-d?  (11)  Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in G-d: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my G-d.
